Ingredients straight down at the bottom.

When someone says comfort food, to me that means HOME-MADE BREAD, for real. I’ve always preferred home-made bread to shop bread; maybe it’s because I grew up on it or just that it’s so yummy hmmm, lol. Not only is it so yummy but it smells so good as well, the smell just brings comfort and peace to mind. You’ll be walking down the street minding your own business but when that smell of freshly home-made bread hits you, it just draws you in and it doesn’t matter if you just ate, it will feel like you’ve never eaten before in your life.

This home-made bread is best enjoyed when served still hot, yes I mean straight after turning off the stove or if baked, straight from the oven. However, I’m not saying it tastes bad when it’s cold, that’s not what I am saying at all. It is still good when it’s cold and if you prefer it that way then be my guest… Just that I prefer it hot!!

Home-made bread just brings so many memories to mind. I have two siblings, a younger brother and a younger sister (the youngest), I am the oldest. I remember jumping on the bed with my siblings all excited when mom told us that she was going to make home-made bread. I remember fighting with my brother over the last piece of bread. I remember the first time my mom taught me how to make dough and then make bread, it was hard but I conquered my good people. I remember my many friends coming over for us to write a song-books (like we used to do back in the days before we knew what Youtube was, lol) then me trying to be a perfect hostess, dishing them my mom’s home-made bread only to face consequences later when there’s not enough bread for my family all thanks to me. Man, I could go on forever; so many memories, so little time.

Home-made bread can literally go with anything, seriously. As I mentioned in my previous post (how to bake fish) this one in particular I made I ate with baked fish and it was incredible, you know that moment when you dance while eating? That was me, it was that amazing good people. I’ve also made it with potato soup, also amazing but my ultimate favorite is home-made bread with beef stew, it’s the best thing ever my goodness. I’m such a foodie it’s not even funny and now, right now, this very moment I am so hungry for some bread and beef stew, haha!! Please find the ingredients down below and thank you so much for reading....Until the next post my good people, BYE FOR NOW!!!

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups of self-rising flour

  • 3 Tablespoons of sugar

  • ½ teaspoon of salt

  • 2 cups of water

DIRECTIONS

1) In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt then stir in water. Knead adding more flour or water if necessary until the dough is smooth and isn’t sticking on your hands as much.

2) Divide your dough into 6 portions and on a lightly floured surface, roll out each portion but remember, don’t make them too thin as our aim is to make round bread, not tortillas.

3) Sprinkle flour on your baking tray, this is so that the dough won’t stick to the tray.

4) After sprinkling, you can now put your portions, make sure that there’s space in between them so that they don’t stick together.

5) Bake at 200c for about 50 minutes to an hour.

6) Enjooooyyy….Best served straight out of the oven (well atleast that’s my preference).
